Spiral Garden for Grades (1-6)

Spiral Garden for Grades (1-6)

December brings us many reasons to celebrate, among them the Spiral Garden.

A spiral path made of evergreen boughs with a candle set on a stump in the center and golden stars along the pathway. We are all on a journey to bring our gifts and our inner light into our community to share with others.

We enter the garden to soft music from the lyre. After soft singing, the light in the center is lit, then one by one the older children are given an apple with a candle to walk to the center of the spiral and light their candle, then set it on a gold star on the return path from the center. After all have set their candles on the path, the room has brightened with a light from each of us.

As we journey through our lives, we touch many with our lights and warm many with our hearts.

Silence follows… all leave quietly to go home for gentle reflection.

The Spiral Walk is a beautiful festival that symbolizes gathering our inner light and strength. The mood is one of peace, quiet, beauty and reverence. It feels very potent this year!

Community Work Day 2

Please join us in our second in a series of community work days!

Thank you to everyone who made our first workday so successful! Gathering together, connecting as a community and brainstorming solutions was energizing.

Despite a few set backs, we were able to accomplish most of our tasks for our Change of Occupancy, only one left! As we worked through our challenges, we found new needs for our teachers and students.

We invite you, as a part of the Juniper Community, to join us in person if you can this weekend as we take on our project list again.

Please sign up here for what project(s) speak to you or a friend.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. We look forward to seeing you Sunday!

The Harvest Festival

Your family is invited to come to the park for our Harvest Festival Walk. Families will stroll around the paved trail at Sharon Meadows Park and enjoy stories, songs and gifts from the Teachers.
Please arrive between 4pm and 5:45. Expect to walk around the Harvest Trail for about 20 minutes.  We will pace the family groups so that everyone has the ability to be distanced.

Please do not allow children to gather in the parking lot or on the playground before or after.

We will also have extra Bolga Baskets for sale and a LARGE selection of outdoor gear, free for anyone who finds something they need.

Let us celebrate the cooler nights, rich harvest and community spirit.

Anti-Racism Community Town Hall (Virtual)

Anti-Racism Community Town Hall (Virtual)

Beloved Juniper families,

We invite you to a conversation about race, diversity, inclusion, and our community's collective anti-racist efforts. This is a space for us to each explore the meaning behind becoming an anti-racist institution, to set goals, and to hear from our community about what needs are not currently being met. We ask this humbly of our families, as we recognize that the school community at large is a vital part of our planning and our internal work. We need to hear from you all!

The teaching body will share the work we have been doing, but we invite this discussion to function as an open forum, a space in which our parents can share their experiences if they feel comfortable doing so, and a place for teachers primarily to listen to our families and their needs as we move forward, together.

Please join us to ask questions, explore our curriculum, gain insight into our ideation and planning as a faculty, and give much needed input. Please contact us if you have not received the Zoom link and would like to join.

With deep appreciation and gratitude, we acknowledge parents Nama Khalil and Rebecca Brown, who have been vitally important to progressing this work within the teaching body, and who have both donated many hours of intellectual and emotional labor to bring us to this town hall with full and open hearts.

With endless love and gratitude, The Juniper Pedagogical Counsel

Teachers Annie, Marcelle, Kate, Nicole, and Zaryana

Spring Work Day

Our very important Spring Work Day for our Charleston Road location has been scheduled!

More details on inside and outside tasks will follow.  We ask all families to please join us for at least one of our two annual work days each year.  One of the benefits of the community pitching in to help with deep cleaning, repairs, and odd jobs, is that it helps keep tuition lower due to not having to contract out this work out for pay.  This is also a wonderful opportunity to meet other families!

Please join us to help beautify and maintain our school.

An Introduction: Curriculum, Teachers, and Community

The Juniper School is delighted to welcome all to an informative afternoon presentation. We will meet upstairs in the First/Second Grade room. Our grade school location will be available to tour after the event.

The Juniper School teachers will take us on a journey through the Waldorf Grade School curriculum. We’ll hear about the importance of child development, stories from the classroom, and see examples of student work.

This is a presentation for current families, prospective families, grandparents, curious neighbors and friends! Do you have an interest in this holistic approach to education but wonder “What will they learn? How is critical thinking encouraged? What about test scores and accountability?”

Please join us and bring a friend!
