The Juniper School is an independent, non-profit, private school in Columbus, OH, serving children ages 0-3 in our Caregiver/Child classes, ages 3-6 in our Early Childhood and Kindergarten programs, and grades 1-5 in our Elementary program. It is our mission to create an environment where children can relax into their development and enjoy the magic of childhood, supported by honest, loving guidance from teachers and a relationship with the rhythms of the natural world. Using Waldorf Education methods and deep curricula as our guide, we seek to create an environment for children to flourish and grow into strong, resilient, and empathetic human beings.

Grades Teacher

Start Date: Fall 2027

Position Overview: The ideal candidate is either a trained and/or experienced teacher, or has assisted in teaching, particularly within a Waldorf or holistic educational environment. The candidate has strong classroom management skills rooted in the view of reverence and goodness of children. This individual seeks a school with a strong vision, energetic colleagues, and wonderful children. Professional development/training and support will be available to the candidate. Creativity, dependability, good listening, and an ability to receive children with joy and insight are the key attributes being sought.

AfterCare Assistant

Start Date: Winter 2026

Position Overview: We are looking for a part-time aftercare assistant/custodian to hour our aftercare team. Hours for this position are 3:00-6:00 pm Monday through Friday. With a pay rate of $18 an hour.

Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

  • Be available to the Aftercare Teacher when needed

    • Supporting as the second adult on site

  • Kitchen clean-up and preparation for the following day

    • Take out trash and recycling as needed

    • Put away dry dishes, wash remaining dishes, and put items away

    • Put compost in the outside bin

  •  Assist with the preparation and serving of snack to Aftercare students

  • Wipe down surfaces, pick up trash on floors, and complete general tidying/cleaning of restrooms (2 upstairs and 2 downstairs) M, W, and F

    • Cleaners come Tuesday and Thursday, so those days are not as necessary

    • Check paper towels, soap, and sanitizer levels

  • Take outside trash to the dumpster as necessary-gather from hallways

  • Help make sure lights and AC units, etc., are turned off prior to closing

  • Make sure all school windows are closed

  • Maintain organization and stocking of supplies

    • Unpack boxes

    • Let admin (Jen or Meghan) know when running low on supplies

Substitute Teachers (pre-K, Kindergarten & Grades)

The ideal candidate has experience in childcare or working with children ages 3 - 6 years is preferred for Pre-K and Kindergarten, but not required to apply.

The ideal candidate has experience in childcare or working with children ages 6 - 12 years old is preferred for the Grades program, but not required to apply.

Position Overview:

In ECC, assist the lead teacher if an assistant is out, or assist the assistant if the lead is out, helping with classroom activities, play and storytime, clean-up, dishes, transitions indoors and outdoors, outside supervision and rest time. Lots of hands on help needed.

In grades 1-5, lead the class using the class or subject teachers' substitution plans, transitions between classes, supervision for recesses, and lunch.
