The Juniper School offers a rich, natural rhythm for the children. We’ll begin each day in the garden enjoying the outdoors in all weather. When we enter the classroom for circle time, snack, indoor play and art, there is a quiet hum of activity.  Developing meaningful relationships and working with conflict are at the core of our time together at The Juniper School.

Our Early Childhood children ages 3-5 are located at our 636 Chase Rd. school.

The Kindergarten children ages 5-6 are a few blocks south at the North Baptist Church at 76 Charleston Ave.

Our morning classes offer daily outdoor and indoor play as well as art, cooking, music and friendship.  Children should be three years old and out of diapers during the day.

Ages 3-6

Organic snack is included.

a note about our Kindergarten:

kindergarten at the juniper school looks much like the early childhood in many ways.  the children enjoy a daily rhythm with free, unstructured indoor and outdoor play, singing and dancing circles, rich stories,  purposeful work, and the small group work of cooking, baking, painting, drawing, beeswax, etc.  the teacher is looked to as a model and he or she relates to the children with kindness, gentleness and firmness in safe boundaries.
yet kindergarten is another step in the development of the young child; the child that is stronger, longer and more engaged and aware of his/her immediate surroundings.  in this way, the kindergarten’s stories (mostly Grimm’s) are a touch more dark and light, the garden environment supports children in more risky play and building endeavors, and the purposeful work and artwork is more intricate and involved.  and the circles engage more robust and complex language, poetry, games and dances.  the kindergarten environment and teachers serve to meet the growing, capable children in front of them.
